How to Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

blog mindset Dec 21, 2017

When you start to program yourself for love, success, confidence, or basically anything you want, you get amazing results. We can attract anything into our life with the right attitude.

The subconscious mind

So what is your subconscious mind?

Have you heard that saying we only use 10% of our brain? In a way, there is truth to that, but it’s not entirely correct. All the thoughts that run through your conscious mind throughout the day make up a small percentage of your brain usage. Your subconscious mind, on the other hand, makes up about 90-95%. Some people call it the unconscious mind or even the reptilian brain. There are other handful terms for it, but it is working and doing something for you. It's the actual program of who you are and how you see the world. That's what your subconscious mind is.

How the subconscious mind works

Since it's always working, we want to understand how it was created and how we use it on a daily basis.

Just like a desktop, if you could see everything that was going on inside the computer, it would just be a mess. There's so much information on your computer that there's no way you could organize it all. Think of that as your subconscious: it’s hidden behind all the hardware, but it’s there nonetheless, and it’s doing work for you. It’s filtering, it's organizing, it’s taking information in.

That being said, there is so much power in your subconscious. You’re putting a meaning to every experience, every sight, every sound, every thought, and that creates the framework for the world that you see.

Reprogramming your subconscious

Now, it is possible to reprogram your subconscious. But just like a computer program, it’s been wired to work in a specific way since the beginning, so don’t expect things to come easily.

In order to actually shift your internal core, you need to be ready for long term change. Most people can go off from the start but fail to be consistent as time goes by. You have to reprogram yourself long enough so that it makes long term changes until it becomes embedded in your framework. The bad news? It’s not going to come easy at all. The good news? It’s totally possible.

Now, how do we do that?

Repetition is key

Repetition is the most important thing. You may have heard some different numbers, but to actually change a habit or to reprogram yourself with something, it needs to be consistent for 67 days. That's how long it takes you to reprogram something into your subconscious and create a new habit.

There are different ways you can incorporate something to make it a habit, but the most important thing about repetition is you want to do it in a very relaxed state. This is why self-hypnosis really synergizes well with repetition. Deep meditation and breathing exercises can also get you into that deeply relaxed state.

We’re all guilty of falling back into that programming of our old subconscious. What you want to do is repeat, repeat, repeat. If you can take the time to dedicate and really listen to this repetitively, you will see some amazing changes in your life.
